shrike-i386-disc1.iso is the first of the set of install disks for
machines running on the generic i386 architecture. You need all of
them to complete an install, generally.

shrike-SRPMS-disc1.iso is the first disk in the set of source rpm
disks for shrike.

The best way to resolve this problem at your apparent level of
experience is to buy a boxed set with the printed manuals. Then sit
back and read the manuals cover to cover. (Some parts can be scanned
rather than read so that you know where they are in the manual when
you need to dredge them up later. Others resolve all manner of various
installation issues the average user might have.)

Once you are more experienced with Linux and Red Hat installs it is
more feasible to install from downloads. Doing it cold with no Linux
experience, as you indicate, is annoyingly difficult. IMAO it is far
better to avoid some of the annoyances with a boxed set than to subject
myself to avoidable suffering.)
