When I tested the kernel on the laptop, I ran into several problems. The
first problem was that both my mice (USB Belkin and builtin joystick
mice did not work.
The second problem was that my pcnet_cs type network card was not
initialized. I should have ran dhclient first, but have had troubles
getting into the GNOME window manager, unless I brought up X first,
during my 2.5.x stock trials. But loading into X, without a mouse
stopped me from trying to test the network feature.
The third problem had to do with no USB support. I take it that is why
the USB mouse failed.

My experience with my own homegrown 2.5 kernels is that I lose my USB
mouse, but the builtin mouse will work. with the Red Hat kernels, my USB
mouse works, but the builtin is not functioning.
My ethernet card and pcmcia seem to work.

---

My thoughts: I can possibly change the mouse settings to reflect the
builtin. (I prefer the USB mouse). Then try to run dhclient to check out
the network.

Anyway, to get out of X and reboot my machine into a normal kernel, I
had to hit alt-F2, then type reboot, to reboot my machine into a regular
RH kernel.

Legacy machines to high memory. You'll have a lot of input.
