Permit me to suggest to the members of this list a useful solution: Get a free net-mail account from LinuxMail. <http://www.linuxmail.org>. You will still be able to access your regular email account via linuxmail, though the user preferences. By _default_, emails are created in plain text, but isn't this what you want when posting to a mailing-list?
