Most mail clients out there have the ability to "view the source" of the message. Do that in a very wide window (as wide as the whole screen) and see how wide are the lines in your message. If the lines are a lot wider than everything else (headers, etc.) then wrapping is not ok. If the entire thing (headers and text) looks to be at the same width, at approx 72-78 characters, then wrapping is ok. Wrapping is not critical for people using GUI mail apps, but it may be critical for those using text-only mail clients.
