Did you download the GTK2 version from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.4a/contributed/Red_Hat_8x_RPMS/gtk2/RPMS/i386?

Plain Mozilla releases do not have support for antialiased fonts.
