I have it working though the java install has always been one of the
things I hate.  In general I hate java.  It's inconsistent at best . .
.I'll leave that there though before I start something.  For me, I have
always found it easier to skip the rpm (I like the rpm system just not
for the java install) and download the tar package.  I just untar it in
/usr/local and make the link myself.  That way I know where everything
is and if I want to upgrade I just remove the whole dir and set up a new
one.  Very simple that way.
