Do you try to use it in Gnome or in KDE. In Gnome it completely locks up my
X session, but on KDE it works fine.
I'm not going to use it anyway as it does not recognize IDE CD writer
without ide-scsi. Right now only X-CD-Roast works with it OOTB.

Yeah, I used it in gnome. Something I could do w/ previous releases of K3B.

BTW, I assume you're using a 2.5 kernel to be able to burn w/out SCSI emulation? I wouldn't expect too much software to support it, seeing as how they are development kernels, and are quickly moving targets (;

I'm rather dissapointed in k3b. During 8.0 days, it was the best burning app I ever used in Linux (very close to being as good as Nero in win32) but now there is a large void left by it being broken ):

Hi...
No...I am using scsi emulation...From the command line the disk burns ok and the tocfile
shows all tracks but the cd will only play on the computer, I cannot skip from track to track
and the tracks do not have titles as they do in XP....Another odd thing is using Nero
in xp some disks will not burn and quit with a error message yet if I use the xp media player to burn the outcome is firstclass ..Even includes the cd label as well as the tracknames..
If I knew more about xp I would like to see the toc file but do not know how...
