No, --reconfig ignores everything in the current config file.
I copied teh XF86config file from ny notebook to my desktop, and reconfig ignored all the old stuff.

I agree there. It's not as good, but I understand the reasons for the switch too. I still prefer xf86cfg from XFree86, but it doesn't do the work anaconda/kickstart needs.
