I don't know if it's related, but I filed a bug report on always getting a "Error trying to open /dev/scd0 exclusively" message when trying to burn a disc. I exorcised the source from the SRPM and build cdrecord from scratch, and that fixed my problems. You may want to try that as a temporary workaround? One of the patches that Red Hat is bundling may be biting you as well. I've burned several disks successfully since then.
