Sorry, perhaps I was unclear.
I'll give it to you step-by-step

* I open the system monitor and select a root owned process

* I click the 'End Process' botton in the bottom right of the Sys. Mon.

* The End Process window pops up and prompts me for the root password in
order to end a root owned process

* I enter the root password and click 'End Process'

* The System Moniter hangs.
