You must be talking about home users without any important data.

Many servers and workstations run until they can not be feasibly maintained, or there is a
compelling reason to upgrade.

With the average Joe User of Linux being used to upgrading every 3 or 4 months how does hading 3 or 4 times as much time for support a bad thing?
