Actually sometimes hardware support is better on linux. On my computer, I
have a Creative sound card and NVIDIA Riva TNT2 graphics card. Both Win2k
and WinMe could not detect either and came up in 640x480 16 colors only mode
and without sound. All RedHat versions since 7.2 came with 1024x768 24bit
color mode (with 2D acceleration) and with sound enabled out of the box.
