There might be an issue with man's formatting.  Since I upgraded to RH
8.0, perldoc is acting weird.  You see, e.g.,

   the $year element is ESC[4mnotESC[24m simply the last two digits

(letters 'ESC' in reverse video), where "not" should just be bold.
When ssh_ed into a RH 7.2 box, perldoc works fine; the terminal
emulator is xterm in both cases.  That's why I suspect formatting,
something from the *roff family.  (BTW, man works fine for me.)
