Hiya,

I did the kernel upgrade. What I did was started with the new kernel in
run level 3. I use the src rpm from nvidia, so I just did 'rpmbuild
--rebuild NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.src.rpm'. After that I uninstalled the
old nvidia_kernel rpm, then the nvidia_glx rpm. Then I reinstalled both
under the new running kernel. After that a /sbin/telinit 5 brought
everything right up. Total time was about 5 minutes.

Don't blame nvidia for this. Remember, it works the same way with
windows, new OS, new drivers. A new kernel is basically a new version of
the OS. Not to be just upgraded if you have custom items, which the
nvidia driver is one. I only upgraded myself as I knew I had the source
for the 2 custom items I use, as my nic was not affected by the problem.
The errata gives enough information to see if it actually requires you
to upgrade or not.
