Dear list, I just received my first RedHat 8.0 box from DELL. They installed the system with a Logical Volume Manager splitting up my disk in parts of 33 GB (root fs) and 3 GB (/data2) plus some /boot and swap stuff. Someone really thought about a meaningfull split-up. :) So I'm now trying to reduce the size of the root LV to e.g. 15 GB. As the root fs may be mounted during resize, I booted into the resuce environment von CD1 of the RedHat installation CDs. I had to active the volume group manually (vgscan && vgchange -a y vg01). Trying then to issue the resize command via # e2fsadm -L 15G /dev/vg01/lv_root resulted in e2fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002) Pass 1: Checking ... ... Pass 5: Checking group summary information /dev/vg01/lv_root: 101658/4358144 files (0.1% non-contiguous), 599022/8702976 blocks e2fsadm -- Sorry: 'resize2fs' not found in any of /sbin /usr/sbin /usr/local/sbin /bin /usr/bin e2fsadm -- ERROR: can't resize How I can get around this? I thought about putting the 'resize2fs' executable on a floppy and extending the path in the rescue environment to cover the floppy disk as well. Has anyone had this problem before and can share his/her experiences with me? I'm not eager to end up with a damaged system and doing a re-install of the OS...
