Either remove /etc/securetty, or (better) add
pts/0
pts/1

lines to it.

Also , using ssh works without any modifications.

I must have miss typed the file name. Any way the info is there but I can't
login using telnet as root. Does anyone know what might cause that?

Can someone copy and paste there \etc\securetty file if it is unedited or
commented out at most.
