The immediate past questions wabs about Ximian packages, plural.

Ximian packages in general do. BTDT.

Has Red Carpet any use other than installing Ximian packages? If so, it _may_ be a good idea.

Not since 3.0.3 has RH not had a x.1 release. Try some research of your own. Read the release notes for several past releases of RHL. All talk of problems upgrading systems with Ximian packages installed.

Since
a) RH has x.1 releases
b) The upgrade problem has existed for several past releases over, maybe, a couple of years,

it seems probable to me that the problem will still exist with future releases, including RHL 8.1 which I expect about April.
