Confirmed.  Same results here.  Cut'n'paste to xterm as specified
doesn't work.  I can successfully cut'n'paste that line to XChat or
Evolution, but the "emdash" is replaced by a ? or _ in those programs.

I have no idea why.  Just wanted to confirm this problem was not only
your system.
