gnome-terminal settings

I just upgraded to RH8, and while I like the bluecurve theme, I'm
struggling with a couple of things and am hoping for some assistance.

Since the upgrade, gnome-terminal has been making me a little crazy.
The new version doesn't play friendly with the RS6000s at the office.

When I run vi on an RS6000 the arrow keys don't work. This is odd,
because in previous versions it worked quite nicely. I assumed that it
was related to keyboard mapping, but I don't know where to go to get it
set properly.

I've tried multiple term types on the RS6000 side, but none seem to
help.

I looked on the gnome-terminal homepage, but the version in RH8 seems to
be a higher version than the one listed on that homepage.

Can someone on this list assist?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tom Cooper
