xmms : no sound to hear ...

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hi,
have discovered a seldom behavior in using xmms :
was playing a cd with xmms and all was okay. in the middle of the CD I
was been called to telephone and just does a hit to "pause"-option.
now the phonetalk was finished and just want to hit "pause" for playing
my CD but I does not hear anything.
The screen shows the behavior as it would play my CD but I cannot hear
anything.

Trying to eject and insert the CD again, calling the option "play a
directory" again - the screen shows again that the CD would be played
but I does NOT hear a sound.
Was looking that the "Volume" is on - it was ON, but nothing to hear.

After a reboot the sound was NOT back again.
Now I was looking, which sound related prog was running too and found
out that "kmix" was now running.

hitting the red led in "kmix" brings the sound back.
Now my question about :
how does the soundmodule coherent with kmix though I doesn't have called
it - because the xmms I was calling in gnome - not in kde. The most
important thing for my understanding is - why is "kmix" stopping the
sound though I haven't called it ?

For remember again :
the sound I could here right to that point I was calling "pause" ! After
trying to continou the sound I could NOT heare but the screen within
xmms shows a walking level - so I can make as a resumee, that the
function of xmms was okay without to be able to hear the sound
physically.

for my understanding - any prog in that soundenvironment must have a
"call" on kmix - is this kmix somewhat calling a point of centre ? Or am
I walking on a complete bad track here ?

Does anyone have some more experiences of that soundenvironment ?

thanks and bye hans

Does anyone have an idea of all that coherents ?
