I found that support for my S3 card was discontinued as early as version 7.
I didn't try to find a driver, just got a card that worked.

Ok, after a great deal of trying and retrying, I've come to the
conclusion that RH8.0 S3 graphics card support non-existant. I have to
machines that can not start X, both have S3 graphics cards. Both worked
before they were upgraded from RH7.3 and installed anew.

I get error messages "No Device" and "No Screens" when starting X, while
if I read the /etc/X/XF86Config file the device and screen entries are
definately there.

I've noticed something about the X symlink file that might be a clue,
but I don't know what to do with it: The /usr/bin/X11/X file was linked
to a XF86_S3 file.

Anyone have any ideas?
