Just how does Xft/fontconfig >know where to look? That's more of a developer type question IMHO. Better answers would come from fonts@xfree86.org, which in general is a good place for all font related X questions, wether they be Xft related, xfs, the X server, fontconfig, freetype, etc... -- Mike A.
