Editing /etc/fonts/fonts.conf -- From what is in this file, I do not understand the font directory list configuration. 1. ~/.fonts is listed and the is a directory of fonts. OK 2. But /usr/share/fonts is a directory containing directories of fonts. 3. And then /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/Fonts/Type1 is the only other one listed. Now I know from the output of fc-list that the typetype fonts in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/ are picked up.
