You shouldn't play around with your work like that :)
Maybe leave /home on reiserfs or ext3. Use reiserfs if you have
dominant smaller files, and ext3 if you have a lot larger files
(videos, music etc.)
They have their quirks too, but I think that they have a very larger
users base, so if anything bad can happen (except power failure or
murphy) you should be safe.
