I was wondering if anyone knew how to free the cached memory for RHEL3
v.2.4.21-20. Yes, I am aware that it's better to let the OS manage it and
that an update/upgrade would fix the issue.
My question is, HOW do I tune the kernel or vm parameters to allow less
cached memory.
As it is now, there is nearly 10GB out of 12GB that are cached and the page
file is starting to be used.
Here's a memory snapshot of what I'm talking about.

You can't do 'sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches' for RHEL 3...At least
I don't think so...I don't think there's any /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches in v.
