I know how to enable it within vsftpd.conf .... What I am trying to find is
the allowable format and available variables/tokens that can be used within
the .message file (or whatever). The tcpwrapper tokens do not seem to do
anything (%c or %h or ...).

As stated in the original message, for example, I would like the welcome
message to insert the appropriate values for the indicated tokens.

cat welcome.message

Welcome %U from %R to the ftp server.
We have %N connections at %T.
           All activities are logged.

I have looked at all the vsftpd doco without success and am beginning to think
that vsftpd is token challenged.
