Don't know that recovery would be possible, but you can change it.

Boot into single-user by appending "1" to the end of the kernel line
in the grub boot menu. Use "passwd" to change the password.

Subject: How to recover root password

I forget root password. How do I recover it? I run redhat v9 and I have the system configured to have dual-boot. How do I get it to single mode to recover root password?
Thanks,
David
