Re: RH 9 upgrade broke *X *

Hello,

I am pretty clueless too, I have to admit, but the error message to me
looks like the problem is with your XF86Config file.
This resides in /etc/X11 directory.
There is a howto on how to fix problems with it, also type man
XF86Config in a terminal for some info.Your problem probably lies in the
"screens" section of this file.

Unfortunately, the good and the great at redhat decided that
XConfigurator was too crude a tool to include in the recent versions of
RH, so it is no longer shipped.
There is a fancy GUI that you could try running, but I have no idea how
to invoke this from the command line. I believe it is supposed to notice
if x windows did not start, but in my experience, it often doesn't do
this.

I suspect you are going to get quite familiar with command line editing
in the next few hours so man vi might also be a good command to type at
this point !
