Put this in your rc.local /sbin/ifconfig eth0:1 2nd_IP_here netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast broadcast_IP_here /sbin/route add -host 2nd_IP_here dev eth0:1 The above assumes a class c, if not adjust the netmask.
