Need help from an X guru!

All,

I had installed my TightVNC 1.2.8 from source, and wanted to upgrade to
1.2.9. I downloaded the source for 1.2.9, then went into the 1.2.8 tree and
ran a 'make clean' as root. I lost X. Even after installing 1.2.9, when I
run either vnc or try startx from the console, I get a gray screen with an
'X' cursor. Below are some log entries when I try that.

I have *no* idea what to do, and really don't want to have to reload the
whole machine from scratch. :(

Any ideas? Log entries below:

TIA!

Ben
