I kickstarted a RH 9 system. When I type "startx" at the prompt, I get the following error message:
"Nautilus could not create the required folder "/home/john/.gnome-desktop". Before running Nautilus, please create this folder, or set permissions such that Nautilus can create it."
The /home/john/.gnome-desktop folder does exist and it is owned by root. I tried changing the owner to john and the permissions to 777. I still receive the above error.
Any ideas on what causes this error or how to fix it?
Thanks! GJ
