Hi,

New to (RH9.0) Linux and I do have trouble to get the sound going :

1) the Sound Card Detection utility comes back with
	Vendor: VIA Technologies
	Model: VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller
	Module: via82cxxx_audio

2) the Volume Control utility (under Sound & Video) only shows a slider
for the mic(rophone)

3) # modinfo via82cxxx_audio
filename:/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o
description: "DSP audio and mixer driver for Via 82Cxxx audio devices"
author:      "Jeff Garzik"
license:     "GPL"
#

4)$ cat /etc/modules.conf
alias eth0 8139too
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
alias sound-slot-0 via82cxxx_audio
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L
[continued from line above] >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S
[continued from line above] >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
$

5)# aumix -v 100
aumix:  MIXER_WRITE
# aumix -v q
aumix:  MIXER_READ
#

however

# aumix -m q
mic 100, 100
# aumix -m 50
# aumix -m q
mic 50, 50
#

6) Any help is welcome.

Kind regards,
Frederic
