I always use alias in my .bashrc, eg:

alias devel="ssh devel.phys.utk.edu -l username"
alias game="ssh game-machine.phys.utk.edu -l yahoo"

etc, and then on the console, I just need to type:
$> devel

to ssh to that machine.
