Then try vnc. I used vnc to connect to linux before. The bad thing is you get another desktop which is not the local one. Another bad thing about vnc is it's slow. Sometimes you have to refresh manually.

It goes the wrong way. It's fine for accessing the Windows machine
from the linux box. However he wants to access a Linux desktop from the
Windows machine.
