Hello,

I am trying to get Gnome to start. I moved my Home directory to /usr/home and now tries to start but does not.

A friend working towards a LARGE desktop rollout here in the UK mentioned this exact problem. There are hardcode strings in Gnome that have been stored in your config files. "mkdir ~/.old_gnome;mv ~/.gnome* ~/.old_gnome " while logged in via ssh. You'll lose your settings, but be able to get in.

He also said that Evolution has been similarly misdesigned, but the strings are stored in hexidecinal encoded format. 8-(
