Mark, I first tried NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-304.64.run which was running fine on the computer without problems. I then ran VIDIA-Linux-x86_64-319.60.run. This is the version that I am currently using on the "problem" computer. Along the way with many attempts, I received error messages such as NVIDIA kernel module ha version 256.44 but the NVIDIA driver componet has version 304.64 Another error message with another attempt to get the display working -- ABI versions are not in agreement. The current directory /usr/lib64/xorg/modules contains 4 drwxr-xr-x. 6 root root 4096 Oct 17 14:29 . 4 drwxr-xr-x. 3 root root 4096 Nov 30 2010 .. 4 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Oct 17 12:14 drivers 4 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Oct 17 12:14 extensions 4 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Oct 15 16:46 input 100 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 101000 Oct 2 20:02 libexa.so 20 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18736 Oct 2 20:02 libfbdevhw.so 152 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 154888 Oct 2 20:02 libfb.so 140 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 142008 Oct 2 20:02 libint10.so 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Oct 17 12:14 libnvidia-wfb.so.1 -> libnvidia-wfb.so.319.60 292 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 295272 Nov 30 2010 libnvidia-wfb.so.256.44 196 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 199944 Oct 17 14:27 libnvidia-wfb.so.319.60 36 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 35208 Oct 2 20:02 libshadowfb.so 32 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 30960 Oct 2 20:02 libshadow.so 28 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 26984 Oct 2 20:02 libvbe.so 32 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31888 Oct 2 20:02 libvgahw.so 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Oct 17 12:14 libwfb.old.so -> libnvidia-wfb.so.1 196 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 199944 Oct 17 14:29 libwfb.so 4 drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Feb 25 2013 multimedia I kept the old link for libwfb.so as libwfb.old.so in case I had to backtrack.
