Y'know, I was just thinking about this whole thing, and two questions
popped up: first, why wasn't the first thing he did either RTFM, or call
the vendor of Remedy? The only reasons that I can think of that he didn't
do the latter was
       a) his management doesn't let anyone but the high level people call,
            possibly becuase they got the minimal support contract, or
       b) because it's a pirated copy of very expensive commercial software.

And before it's suggested that such doesn't happen, many, many years ago,
I came back from a vacation to find that my VP had been ->fired<-, and a
year or so later, heard that the FBI had come to his new? then next former
company, because he'd apparently been running mainframe software that he'd
taken tapes for from our organization, and the vendor found out....
