nothing is the end of the world but if your system don't boot it's a problem when you didn't expect it

Do you know if any other distros do the same, how about Ubuntu, which the OP
is using?

except your initrd misses modules needed fater chaneg hardware

Luckily a major one needed both before and after will be "ahci" nowadays, and
not much else comes to mind as to what might be missing
