Damn, this is why I'm asking because I'd like to get the right
drives.

Can I get you to boot a liveCD and get the info that way?  Pretty
please?  :-)

I suspect it's more the firmware and the testing after production
during burnin that determines things like this.  More testing and
validation for the pro drives... and more "pro" firmware which costs
more to validate, etc.

But thanks for the input.  I've got to move sooner rather than later
since one of the drives I have now is generating more and more errors.
