Thank you Neil. I guess my question is, can I invoke Mozilla mail or KMail or something that's easy to configure to get my warnings? The "fileserver" that I want to monitor with mdadm isn't set up as a mail server. And, frankly, I'm completely baffled about how to configure sendmail to just act as an intermediary for sending and receiving mail from an outside Internet Service Provider. Is there a simple mail client -- even one that's just text based (Pine?) that's easy to configure so that it will work with mdadm? I'm not being lazy. I just don't want to become an expert in every aspect of Linux services just to run a local file server. Appreciate your thoughts.
