After a recent drive failure took down one of our servers and it took 2 days to fully restore all services, I've been asked to investigate replacing the server (Sun Ultra5 running Solaris 6) with a Linux (probably RedHat Linux 9) server and a RAID array (we'll probably be using RAID 1). I have a little bit of experience with Linux without RAID. We've got most of the new hardware selected. We've got a Dell dual 450, a SCSI RAID cabinet and all the drives we'll need. I just need to find a SCSI RAID controller card. I've been trying to find reviews or comparisons, but I'm not sure what I should get. I've seen a lot of discussion about software RAID, but I was specifically asked to look into hardware RAID. How do I go about selected the best SCSI RAID controller?
