Well, I've got a 950 MHz Duron so it *should* be ok.

Doing some more playing around and it locks up with 6 disks too, just a few
seconds later, during the initialisation of the array.

When trying with 8 disks results in the following strace (hand copied):

open("/dev/md/0", O_RDWR) = 4
ioctl(4,0x400x0930,0xbffff650) = -1 ENOSYS
ioctl(4,0x400x0930,0xbffff650) = -1 ENOSYS
ioctl(4,0x400x0930,0xbffff650) = -1 ENOSYS
ioctl(4,0x400x0930,0xbffff650) = -1 ENOSYS
ioctl(4,0x400x0930

And there it stops.

Seven disks gives a lockup immediately upon completing the mkraid command.
Six locks up about 1-2 seconds later (enough time for me to initially think
it was working and run a raidstop :<).

I'm doing a fresh kernel build incase it's a feature of the Mandrake 8.2
kernel. If that fails I'll try with different numbers of disks until I get
something that works...

Thanks.
