This happens only for > the first file after reboot and not for subsequent files. This really sounds as if ALSA/your driver wouldn't fully empty the hw playback buffer when we open the device. Maybe some undefined data is left in the buffers which then causes this sound to be played? PA simply plays silence if there is nothing else to play.
