If I specify a path like this - "c:\results\newpath" - PHP will try to translate the '\r' and '\n' parts to RETURN and LINEFEED. Have you tried the following: $strLocalPath = 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\CI\\'; ? Generally compiler reads the beginning and end of the string. It finds the first and last double quotes. So, you no need to worry about the slashes in the mid of the string. Because i have faced the same problem what you are facing now.
