This should be a good start... http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/ansi-diff-foreign-keys.html You will see that you need to use InnoDB storage engine to have MySQL enforce foreign key (FK) constraints. If you are not familiar with using FK's you should probably GOOGLE that first and try to understand the concept. It isn't that hard, but it also is not as simple as boiling water, either!
