participate to the general discussion to some extent...

I'm just trying to figure out the shape of the landscape. I tend to start
from the bigger picture before getting into details. :)

Maybe he did the way I do -- and that is by writing code to investigate these things.

Nothing teaches you better than writing code. It takes all you think you know and either confirms it or makes you relearn it.
