It seems to me that we have many in U.S. society who still very much want to be thought of as being oppressed. Take this "Black History Month" business for example, I don't recall ever having anyone reminding me to celebrate "American Indian Heritage Month". Or is it because I don't live near a casino? Seems a bit unfair, especially since I was never personally an oppressor of Native Americans or Blacks. But I still have to hear about certain celebrations, every year, for an entire month. I say drop all the silly heritage-related theme months completely and simply celebrate humanity not having blown itself up in the past year. I don't need a reason to drink but that'd be one I could use all the same.
