Unexpected T_IF

I'm experiencing an unexpected T_IF error, and after digging through
miles of code, came up empty. The relevant code, along with the if
statement

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_IF in
/var/www/html/phpBB2/posting.php on line 562

			message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, 'Could not obtain group data for this

		}

any ideas?
