Nah I still have a 2008 but I have modern graphics cards.  Even when it was New it was driving a 1900x1200 and could drive an apple 30in.

It might sound like really nasty advice, but so-called “personal computers” (which includes Apple - especially lately in my book) are being viewed as obsolete after some 3 years +.  Yours is now double that age.
Could that be the underlying issue?
