Back in 1998, PhotoForum conducted a hyperlinked photo exhibition for its membership. Some of you who have been members since that time may remember this unique ... at the time ... exhibition involving members' image web pages linked to each other to showcase their work. Tom R. Chambers and Dominique James coordinated the process of linkage. You can read one review in 1998 about the first such hyperlinked exhibition here:

Tom Chambers contacted me a few days ago about doing this again ... 15 years later. He considers the approach nostalgic with the members using their own image pages under the auspices of the PhotoForum. The list was a groundbreaker back in 1994 in respect to offering a site for exchange and exhibition among its membership ... the photographers.  In Tom Chambers' words:

"It is to touch on nostalgia with the PhotoForum membership by repeating/remembering a hyperlinked photo exhibition that took place 15 years ago; it is to reside ... beginning (opening and looping back) link on the PhotoForum page ... to pay tribute to the medium of photography and visual communication. It is to rekindle participation in and contribution to the PhotoForum site;  and it is to present membership work (images) as a cohesive body/collective group. What is relevant is to involve the PhotoForum membership as a collective via the linkage of their personal image pages, but within the confines of PhotoForum with the opening link on its page and looping back to this point. This results in an all-inclusive PhotoForum exhibition that is special to its membership, and hails back to a time ... 15 years ago ... that gave witness to a unique hyperlinked photo exhibition:

Regarding the Hyperlinked Exhibition 2013, one image on a web page per photographer would be set up by that particular photographer. Once this is done, he or she would let Tom Chambers know that it is ready for the link to the next photographer's page. Once he has all of the participating photographer's names and image URLs (image web page addresses), he will then get back to everyone to let them know what page to link to. The linkage would begin, or open on the PhotoForum website and end, or loop back to the same page. In between would be all of the photographers' image web pages, linked from page to page.

There will be no particular theme for the exhibition. The requirement is to put up an image that has meaning, and shows quality in the photographer's mind. Tom feels that there would be a possibility for a physical exhibition as well depending on the solicitation for venues. So, make sure that you have a high-resolution image for print as well as the standard web image for the online page. Since screen resolutions are on the high end for most viewers today, the web image should be at least 800X600 pixels, if not greater.

Tom Chambers is on the mailing list, so if you are interested in getting involved in this second, hyperlinked exhibition, please contact him at:

chambersdva@xxxxxxxxx

so he can begin to create the list of photographers' names. Publicity will be coordinated through PhotoForum, Tom Chambers and Dominique James. Again, to communicate with Tom about this project contact him at chambersdva@xxxxxxxxx
